Residents are registered with one of the local Doctors in the area who will respond to a visit request as quickly as they are able. If you previously lived just outside the local area your current Doctor may still be willing to visit you. He/she will be able to advise you of this prior to your admission.
We will administer your medication for you or alternatively you may continue to do this yourself. Your G.P. will be asked to review your medication on a regular basis.
We would appreciate the support of your relatives and friends in escorting you on to hospital, dental, or optical visits, although if this is not always possible we will endeavour to provide this service. However, if emergency hospital admission became necessary during the night hours we would not always be able to provide this service as the lower staffing levels would have to be maintained in the interest of safety to our other residents.
District Nurses visit at the request of the Doctors and home staff. A private Chiropodist visits regularly, National Health Service appointments are available but there can be a long waiting list.
Should you have to be admitted to hospital, your bed will be reserved for four weeks. If your hospital stay is going to be for some considerable time, we would discuss this situation with yourself, hospital staff and social worker, but no alternative arrangements would be made without your knowledge. It is the home's policy that if the resident wishes to remain here throughout illness and eventual death, we will do our utmost to ensure that this happens.
